Employee Spotlight: William “Bill” McDermott

Where do you live and/or where did you grow up?

I currently live in northern Maryland.

When did you join Dignari?

July 2023.

What drew you to work at Dignari? Is there a cultural attribute that makes Dignari unique?

The core values of Dignari align with my personal core values. Additionally, I watched a video that Gena posted on LinkedIn speaking about the ethos of Dignari. I was impressed and wanted to be a member of a team that values honor and dignity!

What do you love about your job?

I love enhancing National Security and achieving this important mission with the wonderful people at Dignari. We spend the majority of our life at work, and I think it is paramount to ensure you enjoy the mission and those achieving it with you.

What would you do (for a career) if you weren't doing this?

I would be driving a race car all over the country! I have a distant background of participating in amateur racing. The 13-year-old version of me was convinced this was my destiny. I used to race three times a week in varying states.

What do you like doing when you aren't working?

I like to spend time with my family, friends, travel, and challenge myself physically.

What's a fun fact about you that many people may not know?

When I was very young, my mother and I were in a bank robbery. To clarify, we were not robbing the bank! We were bystanders and not harmed, but I remember the experience very distinctly. After the robbery, I remember the FBI interviewing us.

Where's your favorite place in the world?

My favorite place in the world is sharing laughs and living life with family and friends. If that place happened to be Hawaii, that might be perfect!

What is on your bucket list?

Because it terrifies me, I would love to go bungee jumping. In particular, I would love to face this fear in Switzerland.

Do you have a motto or personal mantra?

"Stoic professionalism." I shared this mantra with a former coworker. We are now close friends and have a running joke about it, but I genuinely aim for this.

Any other information you would like to share?

Each day, I value the opportunity to serve the United States by contributing to National Security. In addition, I am humbled and proud to be a member of the Dignari team!
